Looking at life from a different prism | Sadhguru in Conversation with Deepak Chopra | #1

Synopsis: They say, look you have to look at the world through a different prism. You have to change your whole prism through which you view your own life, is a broad theme. The second broad theme is that if you were able to do that, you will have unmeasurable benefits for the body. Dr. Chopra is an expert in talking about the body, and Sadhguru, as well for the mind because how...

... you experience life is who you are. And then that creates a ripple effect because it makes you good people and then you can create a good planet. So that’s theme number two. And then theme number three is, to do that, you have to do a whole lot of things. This is not just something that happens easily. You have to go through a lot of rigorous discipline and you need science and technology to get there essentially. And that science and technology comes from yoga, different forms of yoga, different forms of inner engineering and self-inquiry, self-knowledge, self-discipline. So there’s many, many things. So these are the broad themes. Has your own thinking changed? You both have been talking about variations of this topic for a very long time. Could you just tell us, has that changed a lot?

Synopsis: So Sadhguru, going back to what you were saying, that we need to be part of the solution. And going back to what Daniel was saying that mental health is such a problem here. At UofT we are constantly challenged by new ideas, by some of the great minds in the world. And in such a competitive environment, which I sometimes describe as a rollercoaster ride we got onto knowingly...

How to control your destiny?

Transcript: Let's understand this. Karma means action. So when you say karma, you're referring to action. The four type of acts, four types of actions that you're performing right now, as you sit here. Your body is doing something, physical action. Your mind is doing something, mental action. Your emotions are doing something, emotional action. Your energies are doing something, energy action. These four dimensions...

... of activity are happening every moment of your life. Both in wakefulness and sleep, it's happening. Since today morning, since the time you woke up, I will excuse you for the times when you were sleeping. From the time you woke up till this moment, how much of this, what percentage of these four actions are you conscious of? That's a question. How much percentage do you believe you're conscious of from morning to now, these four types of actions? Well below 1%, isn't it? So 99+ of your karma, your action is unconscious. Suppose, unconsciously I am taking something and throwing like this, all over. And this keeps coming and falling on my head. I think it's being dropped from heaven because I'm unconscious that I am throwing all these things. When 99% of your actions, or over 99% of your actions, are unconscious, you always think something is being done to you, isn't it? Why forever people have been talking about being conscious is just this. If you raise it to 2%, suddenly it looks like your destiny is in your hands. If you have mastery over your physical body, 15 - 20% of your life and destiny will be in your hands. If you have mastery over your mind, 50 - 60% of your life and destiny is in your hands. If you have mastery over your life energies, 100% of life and destiny is in your hands.

Can wearing Gemstones change my life

Transcript: Do other things have influence on us, particularly inanimate objects? The gems and the diamonds and things like that, and also the planets. See, the nature of the planet has a certain influence on the life upon it. You will see, on full moon days and new moon days, many animals behave in certain specific ways simply because they are influenced by it. You know the whole ocean is rising. When ocean,...

... which is millions and millions of tons of water is able to rise, when 72% of your body is water, you think it won't rise at all? It does. So I don't know if you're conscious of it, but in India most people are, not only in India, anywhere wherever there are mental asylums and things, they are conscious of it. On full moon days and new moon days people get exaggerated levels of disturbance in their minds. So people think new moon and full moon will cause madness. No, that's not the truth. If you're very loving, full moon day you will become more loving. If you're very joyful, on a full moon day you will become more joyful. If you're a little crazy, you'll get little more crazy. Whatever is your quality, gets little hyped on that day. So those who are romantic, they want full moon day. Those who want to meditate, they want full moon day. Those who are a little mad, they don't want full moon day. Essentially, it's hyping things up a little bit. Of course, today there is another kind of textbook science which is going on, which doesn't absorb anything except what happens in the laboratory. These people are going on saying, this is all rubbish, this, that. Now if you pay attention to your own body, you will know, without looking up, without looking at the calendar, you will know when is full moon day, when is new moon day by yourself. Simply if you pay sufficient attention to your own system because it's visible in your system, certain behavior is there. But with the human being the problem is, or people seeing it a problem, any possibility, if you do not explore that possibility, in your eyes it looks like a problem. What is a problem is always a possibility, isn't it? You don't like it? What is a possibility, if you do not explore it, if you do not realize what is the possibility, it seems like a problem to you. So do inanimate things have impact on you? Yes, if you allow it. Because this is the human predicament that, who you are is not determined by nature, it is left open for you. Left open for you means you are the only creature on this planet who's been given the freedom to shape your own life.

How to move energies within your system to achieve high performance

Transcript: Neem and turmeric together creates a certain access to the cellular level, that when you generate energy, how is it distributed? Well, people have been asking me to talk, speak about internal combustion engine. So how distribution of energy happens, which in an automobile is called transmission, determines how efficient a vehicle is and how much fuel it consumes to generate the same amount of power....

... Power in the engine is one thing, power at the wheels is another thing. Completely different. Today the top racing machines in the world are just 2.7 liter, that's a captive set for the formula ones. But they're the fastest machines because power of the engine and power of the wheel, the loss very, very minimal. Well, we have pickup trucks here, which generate 700 bhp at the engine. But, what goes to the wheel is another matter. So there is something called as transmission. So what you generate in your stomach, where all does it go to, what extent does it go, is a very important aspect which in today's world people are simply not conscious of. If you want to facilitate this, well there are yogic practices. But even to assist that, this neem and turmeric can be a tremendous process. Because it facilitates that, that your transmission of energy is evenly across. And once you start noticing this, then by choice you can move your energies where you want. When I say you can move your energies where you want, right now, if I say this, people will start imagining all kinds of things. So let me limit that, but anyway. Right now, I want to speak. If I have my energies focused in my throat consciously, it may happen to a whole lot of singers and others just, you know, by natural inclinations. But if you're consciously there, you will see your speech will have a different kind of impact. If you look at something, if you move your energies to your eyes, not that everything, the dominance is in that place, then you will see your look has a power which, everybody has eyes maybe they're 20/20. So you may your vision may be normal, but doesn't have the same power, will not grasp the same things, will not penetrate the same way. Like this, there are various aspects. You want to do something with your hands, if you can have your energies focused in your hands, your touch will be another level of touch altogether. So if this has to happen, first and foremost thing is the transmission of energy in the system is smoked. Neem and turmeric as a combination on an empty stomach does wonders in this direction. Wonders.

How to build goodwill among people

Transcript: So how to build goodwill. I was doing a program for one of the top, you know, really one of the largest multinational company in the world. Top 25 executives. It's a two-day event. I had nine volunteers with me, Isha foundation is a completely volunteer-run organization. And these nine volunteers were managing everything for the program, and on the second day one of these executives asked me, Sadhguru,...

... where do you get such people? Because they are always looking for attrition, you know. Where do you get such people? I said, you don't get them, you got to make them. How do you make them? I said, you have to make them fall in love with you. Oh, how do we do that? I said, first you must fall in love with them. Then they say, oh they don't pay us for that. So that's all it is. So you cannot build goodwill, you have to extrude goodwill. If you offer it to everybody, then it comes back to you in many ways. But you don't worry whether it comes back to you or not, this should be your way of living. This should be a way of being, that you naturally include everybody in everything that you are. Some will respond, some will not respond and it's fine, it's their choice. But, as far as you're concerned, there's no choice. You have fallen in love with everybody. For them, they can choose still. But after some time they'll lose their choice, they'll have no choice. If you continue to be like this, you will see after some time they have no choice at all. Initially they act like they have a choice, but after a while they'll have no choice. So don't try to build goodwill. See, when I say fall in love with something, all I'm saying is, what you refer to as love is just a certain pleasantness of your emotion. Emotion is a very powerful thing, though people talk all intellectual nonsense still world is driven by human emotion. Yes? Isn't it so? Who gets elected is still driven by emotion, isn't it? Who is popular in the country or in the world is still driven by emotion, isn't it? People that you have never set your eyes upon, they're the people you're in love with. Please see. Yes? You see an Amitabh Bachchan or a Tendulkar or a Brad Pitt or somebody or maybe Angelina Jolie, I'm sorry. You are in love with people that you have never seen because that is the nature of your emotion. So emotion is a powerful tool. So if you can manage a steady sweetness of your emotion, you're in love with everything around you. If you're like this, people can't help it. They'll fall. This is not a trick, this is a way of being. This is an intelligent way to exist because whether they fall in love with you or not, your life is very pleasant and sweet.

How much time do we really have? | Sadhguru in Conversation with Matthew Hayden | #10

Synopsis: Sadhguru, my question is about boundlessness. Earlier today you mentioned that there is something within us that is seeking to express in different ways and it comes as different forms. So, Sadhguru, I think my question to you after knowing you for a bit, and also you’ve been talking about life continuing in death. The question, I suppose is, how much time do we really have? And, of course, why isn’t it there in my experience? Because every morning when I get up, I’m like ya, I’ve got time and I can get to yoga one day or the other. And still be able to make it. But, the reality seems to be that, you know, there is not much time.

... Because they gave him a Bharat Ratna, I am choosing him. Let's say Sachin Tendulkar. This man knows nothing except hitting a ball. He gets so devoted to hitting a ball, hitting a ball, hitting a ball, hitting a ball and he eats it like nobody. Now he's Bharat Ratna. Yes or no? It is just devotion. You must talk to him and see privately. He is like, you talk about the ball he will. He is so devoted to it, okay? It's, it's his religion, it's his sacred stuff, it is everything to him, hitting that ball. His entire life he invests in one simple act, hitting a ball. Is it a big thing? But hitting a ball because of enormous devotion, just see what happens. Tremendous things happen, isn't it? So, the question is not about what you want to do, the question is just this, can you be devoted to this? Let's say you think in terms of today, if I invest my life next 25 years, can I be devoted to what I'm doing right now? Will this matter to me? Will I feel fulfilled if I look back and see what I have done? Something. You do whatever the hell you want, just do it well. That's important. And don't do any damn thing that you will be ashamed of doing tomorrow, isn't it? What other people say it doesn't matter but you should not be ashamed of what you have done, isn't it so? Hello? This much you must keep, this much pride and freedom you must keep in your life. It doesn't matter the whole world says you're wrong, but you are not ashamed of what you have done. That much you must always keep in your life, if that one thing if you give up I'm telling you, you'll live a very poor life. You may have everything but you'll have nothing.

How to sense the energy in your house? How to energize your house?

Transcript: So the punya puja is to enliven the house. The space in the house should become alive. If you have lived in such a way in your home, that every moment your own, with love and light within you, then no punya puja would be needed. But today you have built homes which are so large. It's very difficult to make them alive, just by living. If you just had a one-room house and you lived in great sense of...

... love and joy, you can easily keep it very alive. But today your house has 10-15 enclosures. It's very difficult for any human being to keep it alive. Once in a way if you do do not enliven it, slowly if you enter certain parts of your home, you will see it feels like a coffin. I want all of you, today, you know your house well enough where you need to open your eyes you open. But just walk with your eyes closed, with your left hand outstretched a little bit, and just walk just feel and walk around the house. You will see many parts of your house will feel like a coffin. Some parts may be alive. Usually, I find kitchens are alive. Because it's the only place something is happening. Everywhere else. If you live in a very, very alive way, you can enliven something. But when you have 12, 15, 20 enclosures in your house, it's very, very difficult for anybody to enliven all that. So punya puja, once in a way, at least once a year, would light it up. That is, you have the space around you alive and it supports you. Can't I live beautifully in a coffin? You can. If you're capable of it, no problem. But not everybody is, they need external support. This is the idea of creating consecrated spaces. So punya puja is a way of consecrating your home, entire home, every part of it so that there is some sense of aliveness and energy. But we cannot consecrate your home in such a way it's forever. Because your house is not built through that geometry. It doesn't have that kind of material to hold the energy forever. If we enliven an Indian home, easily, one or two years it will stay alive. An American home, particularly, largely with wood and inside all those dampening, what's this insulating material, keeping it alive. I'm saying if nothing alive is happening in the house, you're a depressed person suppose, you have a whole bunch of depressed people in the house nobody is really alive, if it is so, this punya puja may deplete in a matter of six to eight months. It will not stay for very long because the material used does not support that. If the house was built with brick or stone, we could make it alive and easily make it stay that way at least for two years, minimum two years. I would say one and a half to two years, it would last much more. But it also depends on you, how you are. However the material is, if you are fine, you can live well.

Is it ‘bad’ to have a superiority complex?

Transcript: So Sadhguru, you are so reverent and you are so cherished. Do you ever get a superiority complex? Right now, yes. See, the question is not about superiority complex, inferiority complex, poverty complex, or wealthy complex. That you have a complex is a serious problem, isn't it? Whatever kind it is. What a complex means is you have assumed something about yourself. And you have concretized that assumption....

... In such a way, you make a bloody fool of yourself wherever you go. Do I look like that? Hello? Do I look like I'm making a bloody fool of myself with you? No. So, no complex of any kind. But then our confidence fluctuates everyday. So what do you have to say about that? Because I don't have any confidence about anything. I just have clarity. People think I have knowledge, no my head is empty. That's why to make it look little substantial, I have a turban. It's totally empty always. But I have clarity. Clarity means what? You see things the way they are. Knowledge means what? You have fixed information about everything. If things have changed, you will not see it the way it is. That's as good as being blind. See people think owls are blind. It's not true. Their vision is far more sensitive than yours. But because of sunlight they're blinded because it's too much. When light goes down, he sees very clearly. Not because he's blind, because his eyes are super sensitive. So it's important that you bring clarity to your life. Not knowledge, because knowledge is conclusions that you gather. Knowledge is okay when you're trying to do something physical, material, in the world. But not with life. Is it true, what you thought is absolute at the age of 12, today is not true? Yes or no? Are you sure that whatever you think, this is it right now, will be this is it in another three years' time? Of course not. You know that. So you know you're wrong. Yes or no? Yes. So you know, anyway you're wrong. So why assert the wrong things? Well, right now we are wrong, at least that's managed with little more conscience. If you know you're wrong, you will walk carefully, isn't it?

One simple step to raise your consciousness

Transcript: Most humans on the planet, how conscious are they? In today's world? Yes. In Los Angeles. You spent time here. Let's take the whole world. I don't want to make a judgement of Los Angeles. In the whole world, it's unfortunately a very miniscule percentage. Miniscule. Why is this so? Why is it people are not conscious? The fundamental reason is, they have taken themselves too seriously. They don't understand...

... that they're just a pop-up on the planet. They'll pop-up and pop-out. But big fuss about that. What is me, has become too important. What is me means, my physical form is me essentially. Isn't it? So, once my limitations become very important, there is no way to be conscious. You're just becoming self-defeating in the process, it doesn't matter how hard you try. The only, and only, reason why the entire world is not naturally enlightened is, they're dead serious about their lives. They've not come to ease with their lives, they're too serious about it. See, I mean you've just been through Inner Engineering online process. If you take the very solar system, in this cosmos the solar system is a tiny spec. In that spec, planet Earth is a microspec. In that microspec, Los Angeles is a super microspec. In that, you're a big man. This is a serious problem, not a small problem. So once you create this problem, then you cannot be conscious. You can only be mentally alert, because it is all about survival. The more mentally alert you become, more you tend to become like a carnivorous animal. You know a carnivorous animal is very mentally alert because every day he has to hunt his food. This is the nature of a carnivorous animal. Once, your alertness, mental alertness, goes that way, you become like a predator. Always looking, what you can get, what you can get, what you can get. It may be in whatever levels of life that people are involved in, but all the time they're trying to grab something because mental alertness creates that. I'm not saying you should not be alert. But if you're conscious and alert, then it works in a different way. But if you just ramp up your mental alertness, you will become like a hunter, all the time waiting. Crouching for something.

Is that important for you to perform any activity in life well, that your body and your brains are working well? Hello? Is it important? Tell me, if you're stressed and anxious, does your body and brains work at their best? Our body can get immune to it and that is how, you know, like in the gym when I stress my muscle it grows when it breaks. So, like that we can also get ourselves immune. No, even if you joyfully run, climb a mountain, play a game, still muscle will get well. Hello? So under stress it would get better. It will break and then it will build better together. No, no. See, stress means, you're always finding more and more exotic word for this, somebody says stress, somebody says tension, somebody says anxiety, and it goes further. Alright? There are many, many names. There are some 72, 74 different kinds of mental ailments today that they've identified. Lots of exotic names. Essentially, it's just this. Your intelligence has turned against you. Once your intelligence has turned against you, no power in the universe can save you. That's all. If your intelligence was working for you, would you keep this blissful or stressful? Please tell me. Make your choice, I'm going to bless you right now. If your intelligence was functioning for you, what is your choice for yourself? Blissfulness or stressfulness? Blissful. What you want for your neighbour may be debatable. You know, we're neighbours elsewhere.

How to develop the right personality?

Transcript: You must understand what a personality is. The word personality comes from the word persona. Persona means, in Greek, or in Latin, I'm sorry. It is a mask. This is a mask that they used to use in old theaters. Now, the same people will be playing many roles. Let's say Ramayan is happening. You have to play Rama's role also, and Sita's role also, and Lakshman's role also. For everything there's one,...

... one mask. You hold this mask and speak like Rama. Keep it down. Hold this mask and speak like Sita. Keep it down. Hold this and speak like Hanuman and keep it down. This is how the plays were done. So it is those masks which were referred to as persona. So personality means, you held a mask, and mask got stuck to your face. You couldn't pull it out. That means you have a personality. Personality is something that people are trying to develop because they have no sense of being. Instead of the real thing, you're trying to concretize a fake thing. If you are in touch with your being, why do you want a personality? It's not necessary. You can be a different kind of personality in different places. You are, actually. Already. Or are you stuck with one personality? Some people are. People who are simplistic in their head have only one personality. Others have different personalities in different areas of life, isn't it? So personality is something that you have taken on. But, you have become so unconscious about it, that you think it's for real. You're asking how to develop, that means you're making it up, right? Another word for developing is making up, isn't it? You're making it up. Make it up whichever way is suitable for your kind of activity. But you must be able to keep it down. If it gets stuck to your face, then it becomes misery. Then all suffering will come to you. You can take on any kind of personality but, when you want to keep it down, you must be able to keep it down.

How to set goals in life?

Transcript: Your dreams, goals, and desire, aspirations. It's good that you spend little more time on it and see, will this really mean something to you even after 25 years, 50 years. If you're in your deathbed, will it still mean something to you? You must look at it. Whatever you're aspiring for, whatever you're dreaming of, whatever goals you have set, will it really mean something? Because most of these goals...

... are traps. They're just traps. You get in, it's only one way street, you can't turn back. I want you to look at this. Because, many of them are older than you, you ask them, what they dreamed of at 18. They are fortunate it didn't come true. Yes or no? If everything that you desired and dreamed came true in your life, could you live with it? Fortunately, many of those things got filtered and never came true, isn't it? So, it will be very good if, anybody of your age, if they want to decide and fix the goals of their life, it'll be very good if they take a break from all influence that's around them. Social influences, family influences, other influences. Withdraw somewhere, that's why an ashram. Withdraw somewhere, sit down, meditate, bring yourself to a certain level of clarity and joy. When you're very happy and clear, you must decide. Not in desperation you said goals. Desperate goals that you said will mean a lot to you at that moment, tomorrow morning you look, you don't know why you're tangled up with it. So, it'll be good if you're fixing your life, it's best that you do it when you're very, very peaceful, happy, and clear-headed. Isn't it? Not influenced by anything around you. Simply by yourself, sit and decide what is it that you really want to become in your life. What is it that will be of enduring value for you, not for somebody else, for you. And, you don't have to build a personality for that, you strive for that. The necessary persona will come.

... and he was almost super-human. So talks were going on, a journalist came to interview him. And he asked him, "Okay people are talking about all this, give me a demonstration about your power." So Bruce Lee made him stand here, he was at a swimming pool. The swimming pool was nine feet away. He was standing here, the swimming pool edge is nine feet away. He said, "You just stand here," and he kept his fist just three inches away from the journalist's body and hoo! The man went and fell in the pool. A 185 pound man went and fell in the pool with a three inch punch. Just that's all. No like this, just. That's all. Because you're using the Manipuraka, hoo! The man will just fly. Manipuraka could be mobile but that's not a good thing to do. Some of the people, who are into certain type of martial arts, are making their Manipuraka mobile to demonstrate certain things. That is not good at all. Once you learn to move your Manipuraka in a certain way, that too to do demos and stuff, such a person will not live long. So I'm not saying this only with this relation, because anyway he's dead, that's easy to say. Not in that context. Innocently they have shown these things in some of the things. There are yogis who move their Manipuraka and do things. Such people never physically move. They sit in the same place. Once your maintenance center is moved around, you don't move your physical body, you sit in the same place always. I think in some of these martial arts movies, innocently, not knowing what it is, they have shown this. Some old people are sitting, somebody falls down but they're always sitting. Have you seen this?

So a journalist came and asked him, he was still not yet so famous in Hollywood, he had just come to Hollywood and talks were going on because he gave some demonstrations and he was almost super-human. Competition is good

Transcript: Namaskaram Sadhguru. So, I'm saying that the idea of competition is so much ingrained in our minds. Not even at the school level, but even at the postgraduate level. Or any aspect of our lives, that it creates a lot of unnecessary stress, so what can be really done about this? Competition is a good thing. If you're incompetent and you're in competition, you will feel stressed. If you want to be in...

... a competitive situation, the thing is you have to work on your competence. Right now the problem is, you're tweaking your desire, you're not tweaking your comptenece. This is what has to happen, that we must teach children to tweak their competence, not their desire. We're calling this ambition, we're calling this goal-orientedness. Ambition means what, you tweaked up your desire. You'll suffer invariably. If you tweaked up your competence, you will see, wherever you go you're doing better than what people expect you to do. So naturally, things will go well for you. Competition is not the bad thing. Lack of competence is the bad thing. We must understand this. In this country, this is very important because we still think our education is cooked in heaven. Because people tell me temples are crowded just before the examination. Just the wrong place to be. Just the wrong place to be. When your examination is coming, you sitting in the temple is just the wrong place to be. In the vacation you sat in the temple, great. So instead of competence, we have big desires. If you focus enough on enhancing your competence, you will see there is such joy in breaking limitations everyday and becoming something better. You don't care a damn how somebody else is doing. Yes? If everyday, if you're breaking limitations, if you're breaking the limitations of who you are. If your competence you're working constantly to expand, you don't even have the time to look at somebody. How is he doing. Because this is such a great thing happening within you. So please focus on your competence. Competition you don't bother. If you're good, you'll be on the top. Otherwise, you'll be somewhere. It's okay.

How to overcome fear of suffering? The first step to become successful

Transcript: If you try to control the variety of situations that may pop up in your face tomorrow morning, all that'll happen is, you will become a very limited life. You would step out into the world and do whatever that needs to be done only if you have an assurance, no matter what you walk into, you will not lose yourself. You will walk full stride, otherwise you'll only be half a step. Most human beings are...

... half steps because the fear of suffering. If this happens, what'll happen to me? If that happens, what'll happen to me? If you're well-managed within yourself, you know how to manage your thought. You know how to manage your emotion. You know how to manage your body, your chemistry, your energy. If you know how to manage all this, what does it matter if you walk into hell, I'm asking. If you're well-managed, if you are a heaven within you, what does it matter where you go? Hell also will be an interesting place to go. But, if you're ill-managed, then you want to be in a nice place all the time. You will not step out into anything. I'm not saying this is wrong. This is against nature, because in nature every life is aspiring to be as much as it can be, isn't it? Every life is naturally aspiring. This is not a philosophy, this is not an ideology that you must do this or that. It is natural and intrinsic for every life that it will do as much as it can. From an earthworm, from a worm, to an insect, to a bird, to an animal, to a tree. Every one of them is trying to be full-fledged life. If you go against this simply because of the fear of suffering, then all possibilities of exploring the nature of being human, the tremendous immensity of being human is just lost upon humanity. Today, you will see this everywhere, when people say, "I am only human," they are talking about the limitations of being human. They're not talking about the possibilities of being human, isn't it? When, if we are the most intelligent species on the planet, if we are the most capable species on the planet, should we be talking about our possibilities, or should we be talking about our limitations? Whenever anybody writes or says, "Oh we are human," they are always referring to their limitations, never to the possibilities of being human. This is because the most fundamental things have not been taught in our education systems. How to handle your thought and your emotion. The reason why people have not even learnt to manage their thought and emotion, by the time you're 10 you should have learnt it. At 60, people still don't know how to manage their thought and emotion. They're standing up like ghosts in their life. They don't need anybody's help. They can go on endlessly creating suffering for themselves.

How to deal with problems in life?

Transcript: It's time to understand, all the problems of individual nature are generated from within. And we don't have to solve problems that we create. We just have to dissolve. Problems that you create, you don't have to solve. If there's a problem in the situation then yes, we have to solve. But you have a problem within you, solution is not what you need. Solution is madness. Solution means, for an illusion...

... you're creating an illusory solution. Something that you make up, for that you create one more solution that you made up, once again. No. You just have to turn off the problems. You're going through a certain drama, only thing is, you're a lousy director. That's all there is. Instead of improving your direction, now you're trying to find a solution for a situation in a drama. It's like people watch a cinema and come home and they have big arguments about what happened there. So, the thoughts and emotions that you create, you don't have to find any solution for it, you should just turn it off. It's gone. If you find solution, you're moving towards insanity because you create a ghost and you create a ghostbuster. The ghost that you create, you must learn to play with them. Hello? I'm saying if nobody's willing to play with you, you have to play with somebody, right? So the ghost you create, if you like them, you play with them. If you don't like them, turn them off. But Sadhguru, they keep coming. You don't play. Don't like to play with them, don't play. They'll come and go. Never it ever happened that one thought remained for more than a moment, isn't it? It comes and goes, comes and goes. Let it come and go. If you try to find a solution for that, you will head towards insanity. And, you will start thinking you're Sigmund Freud's progeny.

Language impacts intelligence – the significance of Indian languages

Transcript: The fanatic range that is there in Indian languages is such, it stimulates every aspect of who you are. English language has a very narrow fanatic range. So this ability to use sounds to stimulate and trigger one's intelligence and energy within ourselves is something that we should not give up. Every child must know one more language other than English. Whatever that is, because anyway, our states...

... are divided on linguistic basis. So in that state whatever the language is, they must know. We should not kill these languages because it's taken thousands of years to create it. This is our national pride, that we have the maximum number of languages. If we had to create these many languages, see we must understand this. For example, let's say, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. Tamil Nadu and Kerela. There are no geographical separation. There are no oceans between these states. There are no mountain ranges clearly demarcating and separating the populations for a long time. But though they lived here for thousands of years, they kept their language, these people kept their language. It's so beautiful. When they went to trade and transact, they learnt the other language. But, they always kept their language. But today, the new generations are losing their language so rapidly. It's very important, all of you at least in your homes with your children and wherever possible. There must be a certain amount of time where we must use the local language. It's very important. We will regret this deeply after a couple of generations if we don't take care of it now. Because you can't bring back a language. You can kill it, but you can't breathe life into it. It's very difficult.

One easy way to avoid friction with people

Transcript: I see this happening everyday. Well, in the world in a big way. But even among our own people. A whole lot of people. Not a small percentage, a large percentage of people. They will do something. Something has to be done, let's say, some task. It doesn't happen. When it doesn't happen, the initial instinct is, it's because of her it didn't happen, it's because of him it didn't happen. But we have largely...

... cured that for our people. That they can't point fingers at anybody. You will see a whole lot of people will look for some metaphysical reason as to why it did not happen. From day 1, from day 1 of inner engineering, even from the free introductory, only one thing that we have been trying to nail into your head is, if something is not working, obviously it's not done well. Hello? Yes. Something is not done well. Maybe you're not able to figure it right now, that's not the point. But, something is not working. Something did not work the way it should. We obviously did not do something right. But people look for metaphysical solutions. So you must understand this. If everything that you try to do is becoming frictious, friction is happening. Obviously you're the sandpaper. You know what's a sandpaper? I'll ask them to provide you a sandpaper, a small piece. Everyday whenever you have friction with somebody, just scrape your skin somewhere. So if you don't cure yourself quickly, you won't have any skin left. When you don't have any skin left, then you will not touch anything. You will not create, you will not look for any friction. First come to your senses. Friction is happening means, wherever you go friction is happening. Obviously it's you. One simple thing you can do to reduce friction is, I've told you many times but you've not done this is, whatever you're saying in a day, or in an hour, or in a minute, how many words per minute are you uttering? Bring it down to 50%. Still do the same work. You will see a whole lot of friction will go down simply because you're not blabbering. Yes. And, we've been trying to train you. Whatever you see, whether you see a man, woman, child, cow, donkey. Donkey also. You do. No. How will friction not happen? It will happen.

Is there anything wrong in being ambitious? How ambitious should I be?

Transcript: Hi. I'm Ranveer Singh and I want to know the truth about ambition. I find myself to be ambitious. And sometimes I wonder is it a good thing? Is it a bad thing? How is it affecting me? How is it affecting other people? Well, Ranveer is saying he's very ambitious. But fortunately, he's still kept his playfulness in his ambition. Because generally ambitious people become. In the beginning they carry a...

... constipated face. As life progresses they will become grave. Practicing the final pose. All their life. Because you make up something in your mind, which you call as ambition, it's just a thought. Now, you put so much of your life energy into it that your very life becomes about that one thought that you have. Believe me, no thought is worth investing your entire life. No thought. Essentially, right from kindergarten, teachers and parents are keying children up. You must be number 1, the lowest number in the number system. And this number 1 slowly translates into ambition. It may take on various forms, but essentially, number 1 will remain in the scheme of ambition. But, the reason why people take to ambition is, they do not know how else to propel themselves to success. How to propel myself to success without fixing a goal. This is the fundamental question. Is ambition right or wrong? It's neither right nor wrong. It's just very limited, because what ambition can you have. Whatever you know right now, maybe multiplied by 10 is your ambition. If you're very brave, you will multiply by 100. If you're little foolhardy, you will multiply it by a million. But, it's just an expansion of what you already know. You cannot have an ambition about something that you do not know at all. If absolutely new possibilities need to happen in one's life, above all, if human genius has to unfold, it is very important that we do not create an ambitious world. But, we create a very joyful and involved world. If you are very joyful and absolutely involved in whatever you're doing, depending upon the capacities that are there within us, we will go as far as we can go.

Can jealousy be a motivator to achieve success?

Transcript: Sadhguru, jealousy is always considered as a really cynical emotion. But, to be honest, for me it has worked so well. What did you get to do well? It motivates me. When Diwali comes, in small towns, one of the fun that people have is, they will make a can full of the firecrackers and tie it to a donkey's tail. When it goes dum, dum, dum, poor donkey runs all over the place, faster than a horse. You think that's the way to motivate life? There are better, and more intelligent ways of doing things. Well, when you feel like your tail is burning you may run. People always use this thing. If a dog is chasing you, you will run the fastest. But Mr. Bolt, you know Mr. Bolt. He did not run because his tail is on fire. He runs because he prepared his legs and lungs in such a way, whichever way he runs he's faster than everybody. Hello? Isn't that the way to run? You want to run because a dog is chasing you, you want to run because your tail is on fire, is it the way you want to run? No. That's not a pleasant way to run. See, one thing is important, that you run fast. Another thing is that your experience of running is fantastic. Isn't that important? Hello? Yes. Well, you got into your dream college. But it would be hell three years, three years of hell. Who knows? Is it not important that these three years are a fantastic experience for you? Not important? Running is not the only important thing. How you experience it, what comes out of it tomorrow. Suppose we ran because our tail is on fire, now we understand. The only way to make people run is to set their tails on fire. How much damage we will cause to everybody. And I've seen these donkeys running faster than a race horse because they're terrified. That's not the way to run. Please don't do that to yourself, not anymore. Okay?

The only way to make people run is to set their tails on fire. How much damage we will cause to everybody. And I've seen these donkeys running faster than a race horse because they're terrified. That's not the way to run. Please don't do that to yourself, not anymore. Okay?

How to overcome self doubt

Transcript: I think a lot of kids and, having grown up as well, there have been a lot of questions in my head in terms of myself. My capabilities and my abilities. Something called self-doubt is definitely something that has been an issue that I have probably faced and overcome. But, I would also like to know what your view on this is. How does one overcome self-doubt? Especially as a youngster. Namaskaram Regina....

... I'm glad you're growing up. I know everybody is telling you, "Believe in yourself, believe in yourself." I would say, please doubt yourself. Whatever is going right or wrong in your life, first thing is to see maybe it's me who caused this. Look at it carefully. If it's not you, then look at others. The so-called confident idiots are stepping on everybody's everything and walking. Self-belief, or any kind of belief will bring you confidence without clarity. The level of damage that's happened to this planet, and to life around us, everything is because of confidence without clarity. If you had little doubt about what you're doing, you would think 10 times before you do something. Isn't it? And that would be a sensible world. I want everybody to have some self-doubt. Anyway, coming to physiological and psychological growth. When we say growing up, there are many dimensions to a human being. There's physiological growth, there's psychological growth, there is emotional and other dimensions of growth in a human being. Most of the time, we measure growth physiologically and the next possibility is psychologically. The body is a very tangible element. So it grows at a certain pace. In some people it's mildly faster or slower, but it grows at a certain pace. But, the psychological dimension of who you are is not such a tangible process. It's an intangible process. More flexible, more mobile, or nebulous. So it should be able to grow well ahead of your physiological process. If growth pangs, if people are having, it is mainly because their psychological growth is not one step, at least, ahead of their physiological growth. So, though the same things have happened to trillions of people on this planet forever, still it looks like it's happening for the first time in the universe and they're surprised and they're shocked and many things. This is just because their psychological growth is behind their physiological growth. This is very important. In a society, we create a situation where every child is psychologically at least one step ahead of their physiological growth. If you do this, just this one thing in your life, you will see, whether it is adolescence, or middle age, or old age, you will not be surprised by anything. You know how to deal with it, you know how to handle it. And there'll be no shocks. And up he veils in your life for simple processes.

Overcome anxiety – Do this and you will never be anxious meeting new people

Transcript: You have heard of a word called yoga. When I say yoga, you're immediately thinking of twisting yourself. No. The word yoga means union. Union means. ... universe, is there a chance to win this competition? No, you don't compete with the universe. So we found a way called yoga. Yoga means union. That means, consciously you obliterate the boundaries of your individuality. So there is no such thing as you and the universe, it feels like one. You need to do little bit of yoga, otherwise your mind will get twisted out with all kinds of ideas, emotions, and opinions. If you open it up a little bit, if you obliterate your boundaries of your individuality, it's very easy. Because, when you sit here, you see this person as a part of yourself. You have no nonsense about this one. Whether it's a man, or a woman, or a child, or an animal. You have no problem. With everything you will communicate absolutely because you have opened up your boundaries. If you have concretized your boundaries. This is me, this is me. Then with this you'll always have a problem. If it's a man, it's one kind of problem. If it's a woman, another kind of problem. It's an animal, another kind of problem. So it's time, you work upon bringing yourself to ease. Not just with other people, just with life. The life that you are must be at ease. If you are not at ease, you will never realize your full potential. Above all, in every human being, there is a certain genius. But 99% of the people live and die without ever opening up the genius within themselves. If it has to open up, if the true potential within you has to open up, your life should come to ease. There is a whole science and technology called yoga. Not just twisting and turning. Approaching how to handle your body, how to handle your chemistry, how to handle your energies, how to handle your mental fluctuations. If you bring this to a certain level, you're at ease. When you're at ease, whether there's this person, that person, animal, devil. Whoever comes, you're at ease. You being at ease is most important. Otherwise, you will not experience life the way it is. In agitation, everything is distorted.

How to choose the best career option?

Most people are a regret. That's why they are going around joylessly because they're not doing what they want to do. They're not creating what really matters to them. They're doing something for a living. Earning a living is not a big deal for a human being. Every creature, every worm, insect, bird, animal, is earning their living, isn't it so? With such a big brain, what is a big deal about earning a living? But, unfortunately, because of 10-20 generations of poverty in this country, because of external occupations and invations and stuff. Because of that people have gotten into this mood, how to earn a living, how to earn a living. Parents are constantly grilling their children, how will you earn your living? With such a big brain, when an earthworm can earn its living, such a big brain, is earning a living an issue? No. What is it that you're going to create? This precious life, where are you going to invest it? Are you going to invest in something that's truly worthwhile? Or are you going to throw it away as a worthless thing? This is the important thing. So, one thing that every young person should do is, without the influence of the peers of your own age group, without the influence of your professors and your parents, without any kind of influence, somewhere you must stay by yourself. At least for 2-3 days. And look at it. What is it that I want to invest this precious life into. What is it that will be worthwhile today, and worthwhile after 50 years for me to invest myself into? You invest your life into that. Whatever it is. However small, big, it doesn't matter. If you see that this is something truly worthwhile and you invest your life in that, this will be a life of fulfilment.

FOMO – How to overcome the fear of missing out?

Transcript: The fear of missing out. First of all, fear, let's address fear before we address missing out. Fear is always about, what may happen, or may not happen. Right? Fear is not about what we're experiencing right now. What will happen is always the fear. Or in other words, your fear is about something which is not yet. Your fear is about something which does not exist. This is all management people. If...

... there were a few, seombody from a psychiatry department, we could have asked them. If I have fear about something that does not exist, what is my condition? They would have a title for that. We're suffering something which doesn't even exist. Yes? If you're suffering something that doesn't even exist, it is not about life, it is not about education, it's not about career, it is just about your mind being out of control. Is that not an important aspect that you should manage, before we allow you to manage an industry or a business. Is it not important? First of all, you learn to at least manage your mind. So it's very important that there is nothing to miss out in life. Life is happening to all of us. Question is only, if I miss this party, am I missing out something? If I miss this examination, am I missing out something? If I miss this job, am I missing out something? This is simply because right now, who you are, is not internally managed. It is externally stimulated. When you step out into the world, if you leave it to the people to decide what happens within you, they're going to drive you crazy in no time. Here it's all managed for you. You're not managing this. It's managed for you. What should happen to you, what should not happen, somebody else is managing it. When you step out on the street, if you leave it to other people's hand, they can decide whether you're happy or unhappy, you're going to be miserable for sure. What happens within you, must be determined by you, isn't it? And anyway, why are you copying people? Most people don't know what the hell they're doing. This happened. Shankaran Pillai joined an entity, he was working in Pentagon. Then he kept moving his work cable, from one office to another office to another office to another office, he went on moving around. Then he moved to the corridor, he moved into the garden, he moved here, there. Then he moved into the men's restroom, and settled down there and started working. Everybody was looking at this, what's wrong with him, some problem. Initially they thought he's a Russian agent. Then he thought he must be a Muslim terrorist. Then they thought all those things, then everything ran out, he didn't cause any harm to anybody. Then he settled down in the men's restroom and started working. So they told the Pentagon's psychiatrist that this guy is gone lonely, he's working in the men's room. And he settled down and he's just doing his work there. So the psychiatrist just strolled in, as if he wanted to use the men's room and started chatting. And he found he was quite normal, everything was fine with him. He said, why are you sitting in the men's room and working? He said, I moved everywhere and saw, in the end I found this is the only damn place where people know what they're doing.

It will not bear as much fruit as it could, if it bears too early. So this is something youth must remember. Don't try to live too early. This is the time where you build yourself. In body, in mind, in competence, in capability. You build yourself. Time to live will come. If you live too early, then you will see you will not live a full-fledged life. So right now, we have imported this from Western societies. By the time you're 14, you must have a boyfriend or a girlfriend. By the time you're 18, you have had three heartbreaks. Where the hell are you focusing on building yourself? These things are taking so much time. And energy. Build yourself up well, if you want to live well. So, there is a certain time to grow, and there is a certain time to live. If you live too early, you will not grow. And if you don't grow, the scale and scope of your life will be very limited. That should not happen to you.

But at least within you, only what you want should happen within this. Isn't it? I cannot decide that only what I want should happen with you. But I can definitely decide that only what I want must happen within me. Isn't it? If you could decide, only what you want should happen within you, would you choose anger or joy? What's your choice, please choose, I'm going to bless you. Joy. See, you want the highest level of pleasantness for yourself. Isn't it? Then why is such a thing not happening? As I said earlier, you never read the user's manual. How this functions has not been looked at. Do not go by the example of people who came here a few years earlier than you. That, no, no my mother also was like that, my grandmother also was getting angry so I'm also getting angry. They should not be the leading lights of your life. I want you to look at it. Your thought, your emotion, your body, must happen the way you want, isn't it? If somebody else can decide, what should happen within you, this is ultimate slavery. Isn't it so? What happens around you, maybe we can decide. But nobody should decide, except yourself, what happens within you. If you decide, you would keep this in the highest state of pleasantness for sure.

How to choose your career? Do you want to make a living or make a life?

Transcript: So one thing that all of you should do, before you make big decisions in your life, is withdraw from this pressures of peers, professors, parents, everybody. ... to what you want to do, you must think clearly. It's very important. Thinking clearly means, the question is not about what will get me this, what will get me that. Is your life precious to you? All of you, I'm asking. Your life, is it precious to you? So before you invest this life into something, you must look, whether today if I invest my life into this, after 25 years, will it still mean a lot to me? After 50 years, will it still mean a lot to me? At the end of my life, I turn back and I look, will I be proud of this? Or will I be ashamed of what I'm doing right now? Doesn't matter what other people say. But you should not do anything that you will feel ashamed of. Isn't it so? It doesn't matter, people say so many things. Everybody has an opinion, it's their business. But you don't do something that you will feel ashamed of, isn't it? Then you're turning against yourself. Somebody turns against you, you can leave them and go somewhere else. If you turn against yourself, you'll have to live with it forever. So, this is all you have to look at it. Something will get you money, something will get you comfort. That's not the point. What you choose to do, will it give you a life? When I say, give you a life, are you just trying to make a living or are you trying to make a life out of this? It's important. Making a living is not an issue. A worm, an insect, a bird, an animal, all of them are making their life, making a living, isn't it so? They're even making a life out of it. But definitely they're making a living. So making a living with such a big brain is not an issue. Earning your food is not an issue. Making a living is not an issue. Only problem is, you want to live like somebody else. That's an endless problem. I want to live, is not a problem. I want to live like you, this is a problem. So, it is important, if you consider your life as a precious life, you must make sure you make a wonderful life out of this. Whatever opens up in that direction, that is the thing you should do.

Lifestyle Tip – Is it better to stay up late or get up early?

Transcript: There are three types of people who do not sleep in the night. A rogue will not sleep in the night. A rogue means a sick person because he cannot sleep. ... you can decide, I don't want to say anything about it. Why night is. See, light. We value light because our visual apparatus are made in a certain way. What light does to you is, it makes everything distinct. See now, because it is lit I can see this person, this person, this person, this person, this person. Suppose lights went off and this became dark. I just see a mass of people. I don't see this person, this person, this person. So there is a certain sense of lack of boundaries in the night. So for yoga, for sexuality, for friendship, for being together, for study, for focus, for all these things, night seems to be more conducive. Because the difference between what is you and what is the other comes down in the night. Simply because our visual apparatus functions like this. Where there is no light, everything merges in our experience. So a yogi, a bogie, and a rogue, all three of them make use of the night. You can also make use of it. There is no problem, unless you're sleeping in the classroom. If you're not sleeping in the classroom, it's fine, nothing wrong with it. But, you will see, you try this and see. For every position of the sun, moon, and many things that are happening to the planet, they're happening to you. You must become life-sensitive. Then, you will know how to manage every aspect of your life. Don't become ego-sensitive. Don't become society-sensitive. Life-sensitive, if you become, what's happening with this life, if you know this one thing all the time, you will see, you got your GPS on. There's really no problem, you will never get lost. It doesn't matter who says what, what kind of situations you're put into, you're never ever lost. Because you're life-sensitive. This is all, this life needs. That this has to become life-sensitive.

Inferiority Complex – How to overcome the feeling of ‘not being good enough’

Transcript: It can happen in your work, it can happen in your family. Somebody will tell you, you're not good enough. So whether they tell you, or not, I want you to understand, none of us are ever really good enough. If you have a large scale intention in the world, you're never really good enough. So it's best that you're a failure in your life. That means your vision is large. If you're a success, you have...

This is a very constipated way of looking at life. I want young people to look at it in terms of how we can do something that cannot be done in this lifetime. Oh, what will happen if I don't fulfil it? If you, if you worked incessantly, and still at the end of your life the job is not done, it doesn't mean you're a failure. It means, you had a great vision. That's what it means. May you die as a failure, is that okay? Ya? You sure? Blissed out failure, that means you're doing great. Not a miserable success.

To live a full fledged life you must create an atmosphere of trust around you

Transcript: The walls that you build for self-preservation are also the walls of self-imprisonment. If you build a wall to protect yourself today, after some time, this is your prison. Isn't it? ... important thing is, you must create an atmosphere of integrity and trust. If you create an atmosphere of absolute integrity and trust, all of us can say absoulte yes. When we know nobody will misuse our yes, we can all say 100% yes for everything, isn't it? That's what we should strive for. If it's not possible in the whole world, at least we must create small circles where we can say yes and there is no problem. Nobody misuses the yes. Very important. Very important for healthy unfolding of every, life that you need at least a small cocoon of life around you where you can be a total yes. Without fear of favour, you can be an absolute yes. This you must create. If you don't create this, you will always live in fear. Being exploited is one thing. Living in a fear of exploitation is actually more damaging than exploitation itself. If we do not do this, then we will always live in walls. No is a wall, isn't it? No is a wall. Yes is a doorway. Isn't it? If you open your door, a devil could come in, or the divine could come in. The fear that devil may come in, if you close the door, you have also closed the door for the divine. What an unfortunate life. Yes or no? You've not only closed your door to negativity, you closed your door to everything because some negativity once came through your door. Don't do that to yourself. Once you live here, there are dangers of life, of course. But, because there are dangers to life, if you close all possibilities to life, that'll become a very absurd and sad life.

Competition does not make you grow and evolve | Taking pleasure in others failure is sickness

Transcript: Being better than somebody, if it's a pleasure for you, you enjoy other people's failures. I call that sickness. This is not success. You, as a life, you want to be at your fullest. ... that so pleasurable for you that somebody else is less than you. From early kindergarten levels, this sickness has been brought into human mind, which is causing so much unpleasantness on the planet. Such ugly situations everywhere. But we don't seem to learn. We've created schools where children are never graded. We're looking at them as individuals, what we can do to evolve them to their fullest possibility. Now the problem is, this all life has happened like this. What do you think? You think a blade of grass is less important than an oak tree in the garden? Hello? You think so? Only a fool would think so, isn't it? Hello? But that's what we're doing. We call this education. We call this competition. We call this society. No, very stupid way of handling things. Because, the important thing is, for what you have come with, will you blossom to the fullest human being, or not? This is the only question. This doesn't need anything other than constantly nourishing the atmosphere, not even the person. If you want a plant to grow, you don't do anything to the plant. You just take care of the soil, the atmosphere, the ambience. That's all that needs to be taken care of even for a human being. That you need to take care of the atmosphere so that everybody finds the fullest expression for their life. The moment you think you want to be better than somebody else, you are sick in some way. And this sickness has permeated into the world in a huge way. And we think this is the way to become, you know, to achieve something in our life. So if everybody is lame, you're a little faster and you think you're doing fantastic. You'll enjoy other people being crippled. Yes? Hello? If your entire life is always sitting on top of everybody else, you will enjoy other people's incapabilities, isn't it? This is not good for you. This is definitely not good for humanity.

... in your body. If these two things touch, many aspects are cleared out in you for that period of time. Many aspects means, your thoughts are clear, your emotions are out, and there is a very clear perception of what's happening around you. You've heard that Achilles was killed because an arrow was shot to his heel. You don't believe if somebody hurts your heel you will die, isn't it so? But Achilles died that way. And there's another person who died that way in India, way before him. Yesterday was his birthday. Krishna Janmashtami. He also died this way. What this is trying to tell you is, they were killed in an expert way. Not just slitting your throat, or breaking your head, but just putting a point in the Achilles so they had to die. So there is a certain system, energy system in the body, if that point of Achilles is in touch with your Muladhara. When you sit like this, there is a certain balance, that you don't take any sides. See all of us have our own opinions, ideas, ideologies, stuff. Our own experiences of life. Your own experiences of life and imprints that you have taken in your mind influences everything that you see. You like this person, you don't like this person, you love that person, you hate this person. All this is because you're constantly taking positions of your own. But, if you really want to know life, the most important thing is you don't take any position. You're willing to look at everything fresh, every moment of your life. Absolutely fresh every moment of your life. This is very difficult for people to understand. People who have been with me for 30-35 years, everyday they're with me, working with me, doing so many things. I still don't have a single opinion about them. It's a certain geometry of the body. If you manage the geometry of the body well, you must, I'm telling you right now, people, the Western cultures are going about propogating yoga as another stretching exercise. Instead of that you can do pilates. Instead of that you can do boxing. Instead of that you can play tennis. See, if you want to be just fit, go run somewhere, climb a mountain, play tennis, do something. Yoga is not about fitness. Fitness is just one consequence. The important thing is, to get the right geometry of life because physical universe is all geometry. Now this building is standing here, whether how long it will stand. Whether it will fall on our head today, or it will stand for a long time essentially depends on how geometrically perfect it is. The same goes for the body. The same goes for the planetory system. The same goes for the universe. The same goes for everything.

Everything we, as human beings, have created on this planet, was essentially first created in our minds. All that you see, which is human work on this planet. First found expression in the mind, then it got manifested in the outside world. The wonderful things that we have done on this planet and the horrible things that we have done on this planet, both have come from the human mind. So if you're concerned as to what we create in this world, it's extremely important that first of all we learn to create the right things in our mind. How we keep our minds. If we do not have the power to keep our minds the way we want it, what we create in the world is also going to be very accidental and haphazard. So learning to create our minds the way we want is the basis of creating the world the way we want. A well established mind, a mind which is in the state of Samyukti is referred to as a KalpaVriksha. If you organize your mind to a certain level of organization, it in turn, organizes the whole system. Your body, your emotion, your energies, everything gets organized in that direction. Once all these four dimensions of you, your physical body, your mind, your emotion, and the fundamental life energies are organized in one direction. Once you're like this, anything that you wish happens, without even lifting a little finger actually. Right now the problem with your mind is, every moment it is changing its direction. It is like you want to travel somewhere and every two steps if you keep changing your direction, the question of you reaching the destination is very remote. Unless it happens by chance. So organizing our minds and in turn, organizing the whole system, and these four basic dimensions of who you are right now, in one direction. If you do this, you are a KalpaVriksha yourself. The power of the mind – Manifest whatever you want

Synopsis: This is a very powerful and insightful talk by Sadhguru. He explains that anything that we want to manifest in the world, needs to be first clearly manifested in the mind. I love you is not a cure for fixing your relationship

Transcript: There are two ways to enter into a relationship. One way is, because you want to extract something from somebody. Another way is, because you want to share something with somebody. These are two ways. If you're out to share, your life will be good. If you're out to extract, when they close the tap, it's going to get terrible and nasty. Joy or misery, the source is within you. Yes or no? Whether it's joy or misery, the source is within you. It's for you to decide. If you're a joyful human being, they will also want to be with you. If you're a misery, they will endure you for some time. Shall I tell you a joke? Are you okay? Please Sadhguru. On a certain day, Shankaran Pillai. What happened? Was walking in a park in the evening. Sunset time. He saw a young, pretty looking woman sitting on a stone bench. You know the park benches? He also went and sat down, settled down on the same bench. After some time, he moved little close. She moved little away. He allowed a few minutes, and again moved a little closer. She moved little away. Again, he moved closer. Now there was nowhere else to go for her because she was at the end of the bench. She pushed him away. Then he waited for two minutes, just the sun to get to the right angle. Then he went down on his knees and he said, "I love you, I love you like I have never loved anybody in my life." You know a woman is a fool for love. And the sun was setting. If it was middle of the afternoon, she won't believe a damn thing. Sun was setting, the ambience was right, and she kind of feeled it. Nature took over, things happened between them. Then he looked at his watch, it was 8 O'clock in the evening. He got up and he said, "I need to go, I need to go." She said, "Where are you going? You said you love me." He said, "My wife is waiting, I need to go." So 'I love you', for a whole lot of people, is like that, you know, open sesame. You want to get something. Maybe your needs are physical, psychological, emotional, financial, social, or we don't know what else. You have needs to fulfil. So you use this mantra and it works. Half the time it works. I'm saying, it's important, it is important, you know the joy of being loving. Because sweetness of emotion is needed for you. If you want to take really big steps in your life. If you do not have sweetness of love in your heart, believe me, if you try to take big steps in the world, particularly in India, you will end up frustrated and go to Canada.

... somebody. Another way is, because you want to share something with somebody. These are two ways. If you're out to share, your life will be good. If you're out to extract, when they close the tap, it's going to get terrible and nasty. You have seen people who thought they're absolute lovers, how terrible it becomes for many of them. Not because there's anything wrong with them, simply because you started off on the wrong footing. Thinking, this person is the source of my joy. No, no, no. How to make couple relationships work – Why do they fail?

Transcript: Unfortunately today we have imbibed this, from the West again, that if you utter the word relationship, people are generally thinking of body-based relationships. Or in some way, it has to be between a man and a woman, or whatever else. But essetially, body-based relationship. No, relationships can be of many kinds. If they're body-based relationships, usually the excitement about each other's body...

... will die after some time. What you thought was ultimate, is not ultimate after some time. It is natural that you begin to grow out of it. Then, when the main draw which brought people together is kind of melting away, without knowing why they start being unpleasant to each other. Because essentially such a relationship is towards extracting sweetness from another person. Extracting happiness from another person. So if you try to squeeze joy out of somebody, after some time you find when it doesn't yield the same result as it used to yield in the beginning, some bitterness will begin. It is important when you're young, certain things may happen as you start growing older. When I say older, from yesterday to today, you're older. So today you must be thinking in terms of, that relationships that you hold in your life, not necessarily in terms of biological relationships. Any kind of relationship that you hold, if relationship is based on your expression of joy, not on extraction of joy. For this, you must become joyful by your own nature first of all. If you focus on this, that you are an exuberant overflow of joy, if it so and your relationship is only about sharing this, then you don't have to worry about the normal circus that people go through in terms of relationships. Managing relationships means, in day to day life a relationship may not stay just in one area of life. Once people are together, they will have to share many things. Naturally, you will start stepping on each other's toes for many many small things that happen. Because of this there will be many interactions or you can even call them altercations. They will happen. All this you cannot manage on a daily basis. People think they can manage, after some time you will see you cannot manage. So the best thing is to manage yourself in such a way that you're a natural exuberant, joyful being. If this is so, relationships will happen. And relationships will not be need-based. When relationships are need-based, if what you need does not come, you will start cribbing, you will start complaining and you will start feeling bitter that what you are supposed to get you're not getting. If you eliminate this need within you. That you are a natural overflow of joy. If this one thing you do, you can have fabulous relationships with every kind of people, irespective of who they are. They don't have to be your kind. With all sorts of people you can hold wonderful relationships.

And, according to contemporary needs, not how your grandmother did her marriage. You can't do it that way because expectations and situations have completely altered themselves. So if you hold somebody who is your friend, and who is your need. You must understand. You're in this relationship because you need. Maybe the other person also needs, but that's from their side. As far as you are concerned, you made this relationship because you need it badly. Isn't it? If you understand, and you're always grateful for this, that somebody is fulfilling all your need, you would handle it well. You wouldn't make a misery out of it. But now you think somebody else needs you, then you'll make a mess out of it. So, you don't do that. Essentially, what husband and wife means is, because you are not geared. Most people are not geared. Very few people in this world are geared to make this journey of life all by themselves. They're organized enough within themselves, totally. They never feel anything missing in their life because they have made themselves like that. But, most people need somebody else to lean on. Either emotionally, psychologically. There are needs in a human being. Physical needs, psychological needs, emotional needs. Maybe, social needs, economic needs, variety of needs. To fulfil these needs, you want to find one person that you can depend on. Because it's very difficult, you want to find one person with whom you can share everything that you have. Your body, mind, emotion, and it works. So this is the idea. Finalizing it so that everytime you get little, some little friction, you don't fall apart. So little tying up, so that things don't fall apart very easily, alright? Nothing else. The biggest mistake humanity made was, they started saying marriages are made in heaven. That's why it's such a mess. Much done here. If you see, marriages are made between us. And we took responsibility for who we are, or we could've made it work. The damn thing is made in heaven. Not suitable here because it's alien stuff. Everything is a mess because you think it's made elsewhere, by somebody else. If you understand it's made by you for your well being, to fulfil your needs and your purposes so that you can go through this journey of life with least amount of trouble and friction, then you would handle it more responsibly. Isn't it?

Initially 'I love you' works. After some time, you're trying to make emotions work for you. The harder you try to make it work, the nastier your life gets. Because emotion is not for work, emotion is just to sweeten your life. Your thought and your body should work, emotions just there. The flowers need not work, they're just there. That's all. Emotion is like that, it's just there. Pleasant and wonderful. If you try to make it work, if you try to extract some life from around you with your emotions, it is bound to turn ugly. The nastiest situations happen not among enemies, but among the so called loved ones. If you want to live closely with people, it should be a relationship of nurture, not opiniated. It will not work like that. Fundamental mechanics are wrong, so how will it work?

... the moon? No, because the moon is not on the street, isn't it? So similarly, right now are you angry? No? Then why should you avoid it? There is no need to avoid it, it is just that you think anger is an entity. Anger is not an entitiy. You become angry, you become angry. Anger is not sitting somewhere and you go hit it. There is no such thing. You become angry. When you become angry, is it pleasant for you or unpleasant for you? Unpleasant for you, unpleasant for others for sure. Unpleasant for yourself also. Today medical science proves to you, when you are anrgy, you are actually poisoning your system, you know. We have always known this, but today chemical tests clearly show you that you are actually poisoning your system. Generating poison in the system by being angry. So why would you want to poison yourself? It is not a conscious act. You are poisoning yourself, you are causing unpleasantness to yourself only because your mind is not taking instructions from you. Isn't it? It is not taking instructions from you. If it was taking instructions from you, you would have said blissfulness, isn't it? You wouldn't say anger. But now when you want to be peaceful it is getting angry because it is not taking instructions from you. So if your mind is not taking instructions from you, you have to pay a little more attention to it. Why is it not taking instructions from you? If you understand this, you don't have to avoid anger because anger is not sitting there and getting at you. You are becoming angry, you are becoming unhappy, you are becoming miserable. These things are happening to you essentially because you have not done anything to take your faculties under your control. It is happening accidentally, just by chance. If outside situations are good, you are also good. If outside situations are bad, you are also bad. That is not how human life should be. Human life should be like this. If I'm good everything around me becomes good. This should be the reality, isn't it?

How to become a powerful human being | three simple steps

... of the words. Your language skills will improve for sure. And you will see, you will develop so much of personal power within yourself. See there is scientific evidence to show, at least 20% of your energy right now, as you sit here in a restful state, is being consumed by your brain. If you bring this down, that your brain is not unnecessarily fluctuating and, you know, hopping mad all the time. If it learns to still be still and do only what's needed, an enormous sense of personal power will develop. You can't do this with your mind right now. If you try to stop it, it will hop even more crazy. At least do it with your body. Your words and your physical movements, reduce it by 50%. If you want to look at this, look at this. If you want to look at that, look at that. Don't do this, this, this. With your body, and you utterances if you do this, slowly it will also start manifesting in your mind. It will not do unnecessary things. When you don't know unecessary things, the energy that you have slowly transforms itself into potential power. So in developing this, this should not be dissipated in unecessary action. Right now you cannot curtail the number of thought you are having in your mind. That also can be. If you just bring in a reverberation within you, a simple mantra. If this is going away crazy, simply chant for some time. Create a certain reverberation. You will see, it will generate enormous amount of personal power. Without this power within you, you will not break through dimensions of life. This must be always understood, power is not about domination. Power is about becoming effective. Power is about becoming empowered. Only when you carry the potency of this power within you, you walk through this life. It doesn't matter where you are placed in the society. It doesn't matter finanacially where you are, materially where you are. You walk like a king because the power within you makes you walk like that.

Stop doing this in the morning | Two simple tips to wake up well

So coming awake to an alarm bell with a certain start is not the best way to do your life. It is best that if you need a certain amount of sleep. If your body right now, because of the kind of food that you consume and the kind of thoughts and emotions that you process within yourself,...

... accordingly, and the level of vibrance that you have managed within your body will determine how much sleep you need. Let us say you need 3, I'm sorry. Let's say you need 8 or 12 hours of sleep. I was saying the wrong number. Whatever amount of sleep you need, you know how much you need. So you go to bed early enough, so that you come awake naturally. If you are coming awake naturally, and suppose you have a doubt whether you'll come awake or not, if you have a certain chant. If you have identified one of the Vairagya chants, you can use it. Physiologically, one important aspect of you is your heart. The pumping station for your blood circulation, which pumps life across the body. This one thing doesn't happen, nothing happens. This starts from left side. So, we told you, you know, in India they have told you when you wake up you must roll to your right side and get up. Have they? Left side if you roll and get up, bad things will happen to you. Did they tell you? Bad things are not about that.
